Poobung

A little-known location in North Bengal, Poobung is a scenic hamlet surrounded by lush tea gardens and mountains of bliss. Located in the lap of nature, Poobung village houses a selection of organic farms. You can enjoy a nice walk past the various organic farms cultivating fruits and vegetables such as orange, tomato, potato, cauliflower, squash, and elaichi. Near about 100-year-old bridge connecting Rongli, Rongliot and Poobung is located 2 km from Poobung. One hour downhill trek from Pubung leads you to the Kalijhora River source.

You'll hear the twittering of birds as you walk on the trail, smell the fragrance of flowers and be amazed by the fascinating views that unveil before your eyes. You will be flabbergasted at the end of the trail by the beautiful waterfall that descends down the hill. Usually, this waterfall is the origin of the river Kali.

How to Travel

By train first reach to New Jalpaiguri station. Poobung is about 92 km from New Jalpaiguri/Siliguri. You can also travel from New Jalpaiguri to reach Poobung by private car, which takes around 3.30 hours.

Tabakoshi

Tabakoshi, besides the river Rangbongkhola, is an excellent location for tea garden / Chiyabari stay in Darjeeling at an altitude of 3500 ft. The location is covered by tea gardens and the central point of nearby sightseeing places. Its nearest point of Siliguri Town, well linked to Bagdogra airport and New Jalpaiguri railway station is only 2 hours drive away and from Darjeeling town, Mirik is only 5 km away. It is a wonderful getaway to nature tourists nestled in the mountain peaks and background with tea gardens, nothing but nature in the surrounding area.

Rangaroon Tea Garden

A scenic village located in the lap of nature, 16 km away from Darjeeling town. It is bounded by forests (wildlife area) on the east, north, and south, and on its west side are Aloobari, Fulbari and Pandam Tea estates separated by Rundung Khola (stream). On the invention of the spring season, when Rhododendron, Magnolia and other seasonal flowers are in full bloom. Tinchuley, Takdah & Lamahatta have known tourist destinations near Rangaroon.

Rangaroon can be considered the soul of the Senchel wildlife sanctuary extended 40 square km long. Here the natural doorways can give opportunities to see the numerous species of Himalayan wild animals, plants & fauna throughout the entire time.
